Pink Lotus

I am an avid gardener and most of the floral paintings that I do are inspired from my own garden, however this lotus was in a friends pond. I took several photos of their beautiful waterlilies and lotus blooms while I was visiting. I chose to paint this one because I liked the way the lotus has already been opened for a couple of days and the petals are about to fall off, revealling the decorative seed pod. This is a 5"x 5" oil on hard board.
